I really enjoyed this one, but not as a epic romance, more as compelling historical fiction. The characters were just too young, and the central plot device keeping them apart for much of the book made zero sense to me, and made me dislike both of them as romantic figures. But the writing acknowledges that, both in character and as observation, so I liked the realism. All in all, I am glad I read it, not sure if I will continue the series.
