I see why readers love her, but I really don't like this widower trope at all. As with Lover Reborn (I know, right? Who compares Sarah MAYBERRY to BDB?), the romance seemed to both drag and move too fast. Confusing as a reader to simultaneously demand and tire of the mourning and self-recriminations from both Angie and Michael. Throw in a pair of cute kids and I was howling for mercy.I've only read one other by Mayberry - Her Best Worst Mistake, another one I liked but boy howdy, the heroine's hairshirt for dating her friend's ex was a bit much. I am sensing a theme here. I like her writing, and it's refreshing to find contemporaries starring real people. Now if I could just find a guilt-free one.
